Installation Methods for Formed Plastic Letters:


Formed Plastic Plain Mount

1a Plain Installation
Plain letters are shipped without mounting hardware
Formed Plastic Flange Mount 1b Flange Installation
Flange is a flat, 3/16" to 1/2" perimeter on the letter return of a formed letter into which holes can be drilled. Secure with screws or nails. Wider flange availabe upon request. Not recommended for letters under 6".
Formed Plastic Stud Mount 2a Stud Installation
Studs are metal threaded posts on the rear of the letters. Specify if studs need to be in line for brick or block wall mortar joints. Stud mount orders include studs long enough to stand-off approx. 1-1/2"-2" from the back of the letters. (Brick: 2-5/8" on center; Block: 8" on center)

Drill Holes
1. Check pattern in shop FIRST! 2. Tape one edge of the template to the installation surface with masking tape and unroll it. Level the template and tape the entire pattern securely to the installation surface. 3. Mark holes with center punch, remove pattern if holes are visible on wall, then drill holes slightly larger than stud diameter and 3 inches deep where indicated on your template. Remove the template and clean out all drill holes using compressed air.

4. Insert the studs into the stud holes on the back of each letter. Place letters in holes on wall before applying silicone to verify position. Adjust as necessary by opening holes with your drill bit. Now fill the drill holes in the wall of the first letter with silicone. 5. Push the tube of silicone over each stud on the first letter in order to evenly coat it with adhesive. 6. Push the letter into the drill holes. If not using spacers, use a thin shim to stand-off slightly from the wall. Secure to wall using long strips of tape. Remove tape after silicone sets. Repeat steps 4 through 6 for the rest of the letters.
Pad Mount

2b Pad installation
Pads are plastic disks on the rear of the letters. Secure the letters to the wall using a spacing tape guide and silicone adhesive. Adjustable or flush pads available upon request.
Pad mount only recommended on letters less than 24" tall.

1. Clean the installation surface first. Position the spacing tape on the wall and secure one end with masking tape. Unroll, level and tape the other end. Spacing tapes show the general position of each letter only and are available free upon request. 2. Apply silicone to all of the pads on the first letter. Position the letter on the wall where indicated on the spacing tape. Tape the letter to the wall with several strips of masking tape. 3. Adjust as needed; push letter against wall to insure good adhesive bond. Continue with the remainder of the letters, and allow the silicone to cure before removing the masking tape. Temperature & humidity will influence silicone cure times. On some conditions letters should cure overnight.

Combination have pads at the bottom and pad/stud combinations at the top of the letter. Specify if studs need to be in line for brick or block wall mortar joints. Not for letters under 6".
Follow instructions 1–6 of stud mount method for top studs and silicone bottom pads.

2d Combination All Mount
Combination All letters have stud through pads on all mounts. Specify if studs need to be in line for brick or block wall mortar joints. Not for letters under 6".
Follow instructions for stud mount. Apply extra silicone on stud-thru-pad in step #6 to adhere pad to mounting surface. Always clean surface before using silicone.
